Badal wants PM out of Lokpal purview
Tribune News Service

Fatehgarh Sahib, June 14
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that all chief ministers and High Court and Supreme Court judges should be brought under the purview of the proposed Lokpal Bill, but not the Prime Minister.

“The Prime Minister should be kept out of the Lokpal purview as he has to discharge extremely sensitive duties while dealing with several international and diplomatic issues, which warrant certain norms to maintain the secrecy of the office”, he said.

He hastened to add that this was his personal view.

The CM was talking to the media during a sangat darshan programme in Amloh where he gave away a grant of Rs 4.37 crore to 60 panchayats of Fatehgarh Sahib for development works.

The Chief Minister said that the youth and sports clubs would be provided sports kits within a month. Among those present at the function were MLA Didar Singh Bhatti, Chairman of the Punjab Youth Development Board Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna, ex-minister Randhir Singh Cheema, district president of SAD Jagdeep Singh Cheema and senior officers.
