India names 50 most wanted hiding in Pak
The list given to Pak mentions Dawood Ibrahim, 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed & Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi

A virtual blacklist of 50 most wanted terrorists, which includes hijackers, fugitives and even Pakistan army officers, has been handed over by New Delhi to Islamabad.

Stepping up pressure on Pakistan, India came out with a list of 50 "most wanted fugitives" from law here hiding in Pakistan that includes underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, 26/11 mastermind and LeT founder Hafiz Saeed and dreaded terrorist Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi. The list, which was given to Pakistan during the Home Secretary level talks between the two countries in March, has Hafiz Saeed on top followed by Major Iqbal, a suspected serving ISI officer who also figures in the FBI indictment in a Chicago court in connection with the Mumbai attack.

As tension mounts between the USA and Pakistan in the wake of Osama bin Laden’s killing, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is leaving for Afghanistan tomorrow on a two-day trip to reassure the Hamid Karzai Government of New Delhi’s commitment to help stabilise the situation there.

Greater Noida, May 11
Rahul Gandhi, who was arrested tonight by the UP police after he joined the land war here, was later released. Gandhi and other Congress leaders were in the Kasna police station for over an hour, District Magistrate Deepak Agarwal told reporters. Gandhi refused to sign the personal bond. Digvijay Singh said they were not taking bail as their arrest was illegal. Late reports said Rahul had left Kasna Kotwali  station for New Delhi.

Apex court rejects CBI plea

The seven former Union Carbide officials, sentenced to a two-year jail term by a trial court recently for the December 2-3 1984 gas tragedy in Bhopal, can still be charged with higher offences if the court of appeals found evidence against them, the Supreme Court clarified today. 

Amar tapes: SC lifts  gag order
New Delhi, May 11
The Supreme Court today dismissed a PIL filed by former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh seeking protection of his fundamental right to privacy, which was allegedly invaded by tapping of his telephones in 2005-06. A Bench comprising Justices GS Singhvi and AK Ganguly rejected the PIL after reprimanding Singh for filing the “frivolous and speculative” petition and for “shifting his stand to suit his convenience” time and again.
