Divisions in PAC over 2G issue

All the hype generated in the last few months over Parliament Public Accounts Committee (PAC) probing the 2G scam ended in an anti-climax today with the committee abruptly ending its proceedings without examining the Attorney General and the CBI director today. It also abandoned the examination of the Cabinet Secretary and the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, which was scheduled for tomorrow.

Centre okays wheat bonus of Rs 50 
New Delhi, April 15
The Centre is understood to have cleared the proposal for a bonus of Rs 50 per quintal for wheat over and above the minimum support price of Rs 1,120 per quintal for the current procurement season. A senior Agriculture Ministry official said the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs cleared the proposal at a meeting last week but the formal announcement had been kept on hold because of Election Commission restrictions in view of the ongoing state assembly elections.

The company has reported y-o-y growth of 17.1 per cent and sequential (q-o-q) growth of 2.1 per cent in its net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2011.
