Tata’s successor could be half his age
Mumbai, April 9
While the exit of chairman Ratan Tata next year is a cause of concern, the Tata Group expects his successor — to be selected by a high-profile panel — would be at the helm for a 30-40-year Ratan Tataperiod.
Tata Sons Director R Gopalakrishnan told reporters in Mumbai last evening, "We think the next leadership is not for five years but he will be there for 30-40 years, may be," adding, “ The group does not want a person who comes in for just five years, takes stock options and departs to the Bahamas.”

Freebies fail to impress voters
Chennai, April 9
Populism in Tamil Nadu would seem to have run its course. The promises of freebies appear to have cut no ice with the electorate and the two rJ Jayalalithaa M Karunanidhi ival political parties, DMK and the AIADMK have stopped focusing on them in the campaign for the April 13 election.
The DMK's election manifesto before the previous election had promised free colour TVs and PDS rice at Rs one per kilo. It turned the tide then in DMK's favour. But a similar announcement this time, promising wet grinders or mixies has failed to evoke a similar response.
