Pranab’s son joins Cong

Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee’s son Abhijit today formally joined the Congress. He was introduced to mediapersons by the WBPCC president Dr Manash Bhuiya at a press conference at Bidhan Bhavan here.

The WBPCC will be fielding him as a candidate in the Assembly polls at Nalhati seat in Birbhum district. Fortyeight-year old Abhijit who was working at SAIL in the managerial post had tendered his resignation last week after serving there for over 26 years. “My father has not asked me to join the politics. The decision is mine but, of course, after taking the decision I have informed my parents about it”, said Abhijit.
