Anil Ambani appears before CBI over 2G
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, February 16
With the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) being accused of projecting Swan Telecom as its front to benefit from the alleged largesse of former Telecom Minister A Raja in the allotment of 2G spectrum, its chief Anil Ambani today made a surprise appearance at the CBI headquarters here. According to the company, the visit was to “clarify ongoing issues, relating to telecom matters for the years 2001 to 2010”.

The CBI has already questioned a few executives of ADAG in connection with Reliance Telecom’s links with Swan whose promoter Shahid Balwa was arrested last week and remains in its custody.

On a holiday, Anil apparently expressed his ‘desire’ to see CBI officials. Ambani remained anywhere between two-and-half-hours to three hours at the headquarters and was questioned on two crucial issues concerning his company, sources said.

The first was its links with Swan Telecom and the second was the alleged favour bestowed on him by Raja in dual technology policy.

His group said in a statement that Ambani met the CBI officials during the course of his weekly visit to the Capital.
