Spring of love
With more workplace stress, diverse ambitions, family problems, pressure to succeed and temptations to cheat, couples need to look at this quick list by Vimla Patil to make Valentine’s Day a turning point in their love life

Recreate old times with flowers and giftsWith the month of February bringing warm signals of springtime, young and old couples begin to look forward to Valentine’s Day on February 14. Though in the recent years, this day, devoted to lovers and companions, has become more of a commercial and marketing opportunity than a celebration of love, still there is a huge significance attached to the day. It is a day to take stock of your romantic relationship — marriage or romantic love — and make it work so that it adds security and peace to an already hassled life.

Gift a jab of beauty
Men spend many a restless nights thinking about which gift would bring a smile on their girlfriends’ face, especially when the present–day sweethearts have become so choosy! Expressing one’s love in form of unique presents hence becomes a task that is really challenging. Moreover, when the occasion is Valentine’s Day guys will not hesitate in going that extra mile to please their gal.

Men commit faster
A survey has shown that the stereotype that men are sceptical about commitment and women aren’t may be finally turning on its head. What’s more, it found that nowadays, men are likelier than women to commit and also look for love rather than just sexual attraction. The study conducted by Match.com included 5,200 single men and women between the ages of 21 and 65.

Faded dot that made history
S. Raghunath on the discovery that made India one of the largest steel producers in the world
On a torrid hot summer afternoon in 1902, two tired bedraggled men walked into the Secretariat building in Nagpur in the, then, Central Province. For months, they had been tirelessly scouring the hilly jungles of Chanda district of Chota Nagpur on a strange quest-moving from one offbeat spot to another, picking up lumps of rocks and breaking them to see if these contained any iron but their search had proved barren. Disappointed, they decided to return to Nagpur and surrender their prospecting licences and go home.
