Cops grill Karmapa; 2 more held
Tibetan leader says he has no info on cash stash

The 17th Karmapa, Ugyen Trinley Dorjee, was on Sunday questioned by the Una police about huge cash, including foreign currency worth Rs 6 crore, recovered from his monastery in Sidhbari. Two more persons, including a local businessman and a bank manager, were arrested in connection with the case today.

The Karmapa’s lawyer, Naresh Mathur, said every penny collected by the police from the Kagyu monastery is accounted for.

Thousands of documents pertaining to different cases were destroyed in a fire that broke out in the record room of the Punjab and Haryana High Court complex this morning. There was no casualty in the incident. The fire, which broke out around 3.30 am, could be brought under control only around 6.30 am.
