Delhi arranges special plane to evacuate Indians from Egypt

The government has made arrangements for a special Air India flight to carry 300 Indians, mainly women and children, from Cairo, which has been rocked by violent protests for the past few days, to India.

Cops grill Karmapa; 2 more held
Tibetan leader says he has no info on cash stash

The 17th Karmapa, Ugyen Trinley Dorjee, was on Sunday questioned by the Una police about huge cash, including foreign currency worth Rs 6 crore, recovered from his monastery in Sidhbari. Two more persons, including a local businessman and a bank manager, were arrested in connection with the case today.

The office of the 17th Karmapa, Ugyen Trinley Dorjee, today tried to clear the air regarding the Tibetan leader’s Chinese connection and foreign currency recovered from his monastery. The Karmapa’s lawyer, Naresh Mathur, said every penny collected by the police from the Kagyu monastery is accounted for.

Fire in Punjab & Haryana HC, case files destroyed
Chandigarh, January 30
Thousands of documents pertaining to different cases were destroyed in a fire that broke out in the record room of the Punjab and Haryana High Court complex this morning. There was no casualty in the incident. The fire, which broke out around 3.30 am, could be brought under control only around 6.30 am.

BCCI picks B’lore for Eden tie

The ICC has formally conveyed to the BCCI its inability to hold the India vs England World Cup match at the Eden Gardens on February 27. The BCCI has recommended Bangalore as the alternate venue for the match.
