Lavasa seeks time for negotiated settlement

New Delhi, January 27
Having been given a lifeline by the Environment Ministry, Lavasa Corporation today sought six weeks time to arrive at a negotiated settlement on its ambitious hill city project in Pune. “Lavasa Corporation has asked for an extension of six weeks as Lavasa has submitted relevant documents requested by the MoEF in their final order dated January 17, 2011,”the company said in a statement here.

Lavasa said it had discussed the matter with Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh and “has asked for time to consider a solution.” On Monday, Ramesh had said efforts were being made to find a “negotiated solution” on the stalled Rs 3,000-crore project in Pune.

“We are trying to find a solution,” Ramesh had told reporters when asked about his meeting with officials from the Hindustan Construction Company Limited. — PTI
