Chandigarh, January 12
A gang of 12 to 15 armed robbers, five of whom were dressed in police uniform, pulled off a major heist at the Tanishq showroom in Manimajra in the wee hours today and decamped with gold and diamond jewellery worth at least Rs 10 crore by overpowering two security guards at gunpoint.

Cabinet rejig 
PM may swap portfolios of PC, Pranab 
New Delhi, January 12
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to overhaul his Cabinet any time after Makar Sankranti on January 14 amid indications that he is keen to move P.Chidambaram back to the Finance Ministry but is not sure if Pranab Mukherjee would like to relinquish the portfolio.

South Africa defeated India by 135 runs in the first one-dayer at the Kingsmead Satadium here today. Set to score 290 for a win, the Indian batting order collapsed in the face of some tight bowling by the Proteas. Now, China issues stapled visas to Arunachal residents
New Delhi, January 12
China has needled India yet again by issuing stapled visas to two sportsmen from Arunachal Pradesh, provoking New Delhi to lodge a strong protest with Beijing. “We have seen media reports on issuance of stapled visas to an athlete Sibi Yukar and his coach Abraham Kaya by the Chinese Embassy to India. Both of them, reportedly, are domiciled in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, which is an integral part of India,” the spokesman for the External Affairs Ministry said in response to questions.

Sibal under fire from PAC
New Delhi, January 12
Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal today came under fire from the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for his claims that the CAG’s calculation of Rs 1.76 lakh crore loss due to the 2G Spectrum scam was erroneous. BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, who heads the PAC, said, “Sibal’s remarks were improper and against the propriety. His remarks have damaged the prestige of the CAG as well as the PAC. That was not right in any way.”
