The buzz has started about which new ‘fighter bird’ will rule the Indian skies as well as those of enemy. The Eurofighter aircraft, it seems, has emerged the winner after a long ‘dogfight’ among six foreign 4.5th generation jet planes to clinch over $10-billion Indian Air Force deal for 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA). The second runner-up is said to be the French fighter Rafale.

India achieved a major milestone in military avionics today when the indigenously designed and developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas was given initial operational clearance in a function at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited airport here paving the way for its induction into the Indian Air Force.

In Assam, shoot-at-sight orders after ethnic clashes
Shillong, January 10
Shoot-at-sight orders were issued in Assam while curfew remained clamped on the inter-state border with Meghalaya as the toll in the ethnic strife at the Goalpara-East Garo Hills area reached 10. Goalpara Deputy Comm-issioner PK Goswami said over the phone that two bodies were found on the Assam side of the boarder on Sunday evening, taking the toll in the ethnic clash between the Rabhas and the Garos to 10.

SRK in tax trouble over his Dubai villa Mumbai, January 10 The Income Tax department has issued a notice to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan asking him to pay tax on the Rs 17.84-crore villa in the United Arab Emirates, sources said today. The actor has said that he received the villa as a gift from a Dubai-based company during assessment year 2008-09 for promoting a real estate project. In April 2009, Khan had filed his returns declaring an income of Rs 126.31 crore for the assessment year 2008-09. He said his income was from house, property, profession, capital gains and other sources.
