2G Scam
BJP turns down PM’s PAC offer

New Delhi, December 20
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s offer to appear before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) probing the 2G spectrum scam failed to cut much ice with the Opposition, as the BJP accused him of “hiding something”.

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley reacted promptly to the Prime Minister’s offer made during the Congress’ plenary at Burari today: “The Prime Minister can't answer questions before an auditor or PAC. It’s a JPC that must look into all these issues. The Prime Minister is hiding something.”

“The Prime Minister is hiding the fact that he kept quiet for the last three years. The Opposition has been crying hoarse for the last three years on the 2G issue. Prime Minister has to answer to India's Parliament or a committee of Parliament on the issue,” Jaitley said. “The nation is waiting to hear the response.”  — TNS/PTI
