Kharar, December 19
Congress MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu and his brother Amarjeet Singh Jeeti have been booked following a firing incidence in Bariali village wherein one person has been killed and six others injured.

The clash between family members of Rattan Singh and village sarpanch Kulwant Singh Bariali took a bloody turn on Saturday night. Tension had been brewing between both families for the past many months over some property dispute.

In his complaint to the police, Harjinder Singh stated that at 9:30 pm on Saturday, his father Rattan Singh, sister Kulwinder Kaur and cousin Gurpreet Singh were coming from a hospital. Gurpreet parked his vehicle near the house of Kulwant Singh. “Soon after, Kulwant’s son Jatinder Singh came out and started hurling abuses. When Gurpreet objected to it, Jatinder and others started beating him up,” Harjinder told the police.

On hearing Gurpreet’s cries, Harjinder and others came out of their houses to help him. Kulwant and others came out of their house and started firing. While Harjinder’s father Rattan Singh died on the spot, Harjinder sustained serious injuries and is admitted at the PGI, Chandigarh. Others injured include Harjinder’s brother Harpreet Singh, sister Kulwinder Kaur, uncle Amrik Singh and cousin Gurpreet Singh. Kulwant’s brother Dilbar Singh, too, has sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital.

Harjinder has alleged that after the firing, Kharar MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu’s car took the Kulwant and his accomplices away.

On his complaint police has booked a case against Kulwant Singh Bariali, Jatinder Singh, Dilbar Singh, Kharar MLA Balbir Sidhu, and his brother Amarjit Singh Jeeti.
