Taking the challenge posed by Manpreet Singh Badal to its logical conclusion, the Shiromani Akali Dal today expelled the former Punjab Finance Minister from the primary membership of the party.

A former economics teacher and Education Minister, Dr Upinderjit Kaur, was today allocated the Finance portfolio following the exit of Manpreet Singh Badal in a Cabinet reshuffle which saw Public Relations Minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan being given the Education Ministry and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal Information and Public Relations.

Games Village ‘mess’ puts Emmar-MGF in a spot
Builder’s Rs 183-crore bank guarantee seized
New Delhi, October 20
Coming down heavily on Emaar-MGF after “irregularities” and “deficiencies” were found in the Commonwealth Games Village constructed by it, the Urban Development Ministry on Wednesday directed the Delhi Development Authority to confiscate Rs 183-crore bank guarantee furnished by the real estate developer.

Wheat MSP up by Rs 20
New Delhi, October 20
The government today announced a nominal hike of Rs 20 a quintal in the minimum support price of wheat, taking it up to Rs 1,120. However the prices of masoor and gram dals have been raised sharply to encourage farmers to grow more.
