Five days after Manpreet Singh Badal resigned from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP government in Punjab, the senior leadership of the party today launched a frontal attack on the former Finance Minister and branded him a “conspirator”. Virtually flaying Manpreet’s stand on subsidies, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said it was at variance with the philosophy of the SAD.

HC split on K’taka MLAs’ disqualification
Bangalore, October 18
A split verdict by the high court here today gave another lifeline to the Yeddyurappa government that was rattled by the Opposition propaganda that its trust vote victory in the Assembly on October 14 could be undone by a court verdict in favour of the MLAs disqualified by the Speaker.

OC’s tenure extended, says Reddy
Move will help agencies complete corruption probe
New Delhi, October 18
The Group of Ministers (GoM) appointed to oversee the activities of the Organising Committee (OC) of the Commonwealth Games today endorsed the government’s decision to extend tenure of the committee till further orders. Usually, the OC winds up after the completion of the Games. However, the fresh move will enable the investigating agencies, including the CAG, the CVC, and the Enforcement Directorate, to probe corruption charges against the OC.

A dreaded terrorist of Babbar Khalsa outfit identified as Karanvir Singh, alias Bablu, son of Satnam Singh of Daroli PS Adampur, who was arrested last midnight from Qila Barun (Chhotta Bajwara), fled from the CIA staff custody in the wee hours today.

World's most wanted terrorists Osama bin Laden and his deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri may be hiding close to each other in houses in northwest Pakistan, protected by some members of ISI, a media report said today. The two top Al-Qaida commanders may not be together and are not living in caves as foreseen by American experts to evade detection, the CNN reported quoting a top NATO officer based in Afghanistan.

An Al-Qaida magazine produced from Yemen has reconfirmed its reputation as a ‘killing’ manual after publishing tips on how to carry out random terror attacks on innocent civilians in the West, including citizens of “The United Snakes of America”. “Inspire” is a 74-page magazine published in English and produced by the Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, known by its acronym of AQAP.
