Ayodhya came alive with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as the High Court ruled that the disputed site where Ram Lalla’s idol stoods would belong to the Lord and a temple could come up there.

Others feel restive
In the Muslim pockets of Ayodhya, the mood turned sombre as news came in that the High Court had dismissed the community’s claim to the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi Babri Masjid site.

An extremely guarded Congress evoked Lord Rama and took the help of philosophy to put across its point that the Ayodhya verdict should not be perceived as a victory or defeat for any community and that none should indulge in activity that could affect peace and harmony. Responding to reports of bursting of crackers by some religious groups after the judgement, party general secretary Janardan Dwivedi quoted a Sanskrit shloka to explain how Lord Ram maintained composure under all conditions- good and bad.
