All-party leaders' visit evokes mixed response in
Kashmir
Leaders from the mainstream parties in valley region of Indian Kashmir voiced varied opinions after the all-party delegation visited Srinagar on Monday to find a way out of the current frequent protests and imposition of curfews in the region. However, PDP lawmaker Nizamuddin Bhat asked that the government should lift the curfew at the outset.

Maoists kill three policemen, village head in Chhattisgarh
Maoists continued with their brutal killings by killing a village head and three police personnel at various places in Chhattisgarh. Reportedly, the rebels killed Kondu Ram, the Pradhan of Madanwada village under Manpur Police Station in Rajnandgaon District of the state. The Maoists had kidnapped him on Friday and his dead body was found near a stream on Monday.

Sensex crosses 20, 000 for 1st time since Jan 2008
India's markets rose past 20,000 points early morning today by shooting up over 135 points for the first time since January 2008, boosted by robust foreign institution

Sonia tours flood-hit areas of Uttarakhand
Congress President Sonia Gandhi surveyed the flood and cloudburst hit areas of Uttarakhand
today. Accompanied by Defence Minister A K Antony and senior Congress leader Digvijay
Singh, Gandhi took a helicopter to fly over the affected areas in
Haridwar, Tehri and Kumaon. Over 60 people have died in cloudbursts and landslides triggered by heavy rains in Almora and Naintial since Saturday.
