BJP delegation meets PM, discusses J and K, Enemy Property Bill
A high-level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party led by senior leader Lal Krishna Advani met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday and discussed situation prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation comprised of leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and opposition leader in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley along with others, also submitted another memorandum stating that the earlier ordinance passed on the Enemy Property Bill should be upheld and passed without amendment in the next session of parliament.

Curfew re imposed in Kashmir, firing on stone pelters kill 2 more
Curfew was re imposed in Kashmir on Tuesday, a day after police opened fire on hundreds of stone-throwing protesters, killing at least two, taking the death toll to 66,since violence erupted in the valley on June 11.Roads remained deserted and shops remained closed as security personnel patrolled the streets in Srinagar, the state's summer capital. And as always, it was the common man who bore the brunt of the situation.

Skyrocketing gold prices hit jewellery businesses in Gujarat
The price of gold going through the roof has severely hit jewellers in Ahmedabad, resulting in the shutting down of at least 60 percent of small-scale jewellery businesses. The recent hike in gold prices has discouraged many customers from investing in the metal. With the festival season just round the corner and the number of customers dwindling, the jewellery shop-owners are worried.

Trade unions strike evokes mixed response across India
A nationwide strike called by trade unions to protest the failure of the government to curb the rising inflation backed by Communist parties had mixed effect across India. In Thiruvananthapuram, markets were closed and public transport remained off roads. Banks, schools and businesses were worst affected and most people preferred to stay indoors during the strike. Many locals disapproved of such arm-twisting tactics that cause grave inconvenience to the common people.
