SC sends Bofors records to trial court
Legal Correspondent

New Delhi, August 10
The Supreme Court today returned the records relating to the Bofors payoff case to the trial court, which has to decide the CBI’s plea for withdrawing the case against 70-year-old Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused.

A Bench headed by Justice HS Bedi passed the order on a plea by advocate Ajay Aggarwal who is opposing the CBI’s move to close the case against Quattrocchi.

The trial court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja would consider the CBI’s application in this regard on August 25. Last week, the CMM had deferred the hearing for want of case records, which were lying with the SC in connection with an appeal challenging the acquittal of some of the accused by the Delhi High Court.
