Villages on high alert at flood-hit Akola district
Continuous heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc across Akola district of Maharashtra. The floodwaters have damaged homes and inundated roads, bringing normal life in the city to a virtual standstill. Due to the overflowing water in the Katepurna dam in Akola district, 30 villages have been sounded high alert.
Heavy downpour in the area burst the embankment of streams,
forcing villagers to abandon their homes and hearth and move
elsewhere.

Srinagar remains deserted as curfew enters second day
Roads remained deserted as security personnel patrolled the streets of Srinagar city of on the second day of curfew on
Sunday. Several neighborhoods in Srinagar and other towns like
Baramulla, Sopore and Anantnag have been completely sealed as paramilitary and police personnel patrolled the streets to prevent civilian mobilization and further demonstrations.
