Floods, fuel hike make vegetable prices soar
People across the northern part of India are feeling the effects of incessant rains and floods. Heavy rains have damaged crops, resulting in high prices of vegetables. The gasoline price hike has also added to the increase in prices. As a result, transporters bringing in vegetables from other states have increased their fares, in turn pinching the pocket of the common man.

Maoists ambush in Jharkhand kills five

Five police personnel were killed in an ambush that was laid by Maoists in Barwadih region of Jharkhand state on
Friday. The vehicle was ferrying personnel of Jaguar Force, a crack outfit of Jharkhand Police when the Maoists triggered the
landmine. The security squad was returning after busting a Maoist bunker in the jungles of Latehar district.
