Tourism hit hard due to unrest in Kashmir
The recent strikes and imposition of curfew by the government has badly affected tourism in Kashmir. Most of the tourists have left the valley and the ones still there are facing problems like shortage of food and basic amenities as shops are closed. Houseboat owners said the uprisings, protests marches, strikes and curfew have restricted the flow of tourists to the valley.

Spanish fans celebrate first world cup title
Spanish soccer fans celebrated their team's first World Cup triumph after the team beat the Netherlands by 1-0 in Johannesburg on Sunday. The match at Soccer City was a bruising encounter with 13 yellow cards and the dismissal of Dutchman John Heitinga for bringing down Iniesta ten minutes from the end of extra-time. Six minutes later, Iniesta sealed the win with a close range right-foot shot following a pass by Cesc Fabregas.

Haryana gears up to prevent water-borne diseases after floods
The administration has geared up to prevent water-borne diseases as floodwater has started receding in parts of Haryana. The districts of Ambala, Kurukshetra and Kaithal are among the worst affected. Medical teams have been dispatched to every block with adequate medicines. They have sprayed pesticides and dispersed lime in the affected areas.

Vegetable prices soar with tomato rates touching all-time high
The aftereffects of heavy rains and floods in northern India are being felt across the country. The prices of vegetables have shot over 25-30 per cent all over India, with green vegetables and tomato prices burning holes in the pockets of consumers.

ISRO successfully launches PSLV C-15
India's Space Research Organisation on Monday successfully launched its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle or PSLV-C 15,carrying Cartosat 2B, and four other
satellites, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore
district. The 230-tonne 44.4-metre tall four-stage rocket carried a total of five satellites into orbit.
