India to talk tough with Pak
India and Pakistan are set to hold intensive parleys over the next three days, aimed at finding ways and means to normalise bilateral ties, which touched a new low in the wake of the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The accusatory and finger-pointing mode since the Mumbai carnage has toned down but there is no dilution in New Delhi’s stand that Pakistan must bring to justice the perpetrators of the attacks.

Ministers from India, Canada and Ireland today led mourners to observe a minute’s silence at an Irish memorial garden to remember the 329 people who were killed when a terrorist bomb destroyed an Air India trans Atlantic jet 25 years ago.

The 10-day old war of attrition between BJP and its Bihar ally chief minister Nitish Kumar has ended with the BJP informally deciding not to create any more trouble for itself by sending in Narendra Modi to Bihar yet again.

Col killed in Kupwara encounter
Srinagar, June 23
An Army Colonel was killed in an encounter with militants in a remote forest area of Lolab in Kupwara district in Kashmir yesterday. The incident took place when the troops launched a search operation in Chalwan forest area. Col Neeraj Sood, Commanding Officer of 18 RR, received bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital, reports said.

Govt drafts law to end honour killings
New Delhi, June 23
With reports of honour killings of young couples and ‘kangaroo’ court rulings on the rise, the Centre today said it has drafted a law that will seek to put an end to such ‘extra-judicial’ actions.

Indira Gandhi International Airport
Terminal 3, bigger & better
New Delhi, June 23
The largest in India and the sixth largest in the world in terms of its size (5.4 million square feet), Terminal 3 (T3) at the Indira Gandhi International Airport is all set to start operations in July. To be inaugurated by the Prime Minister on July 3, Air India and all other international airlines will shift their operations to T3 by July 14.
