Bandh in valley over youth’s death

Srinagar, June 21
At least 33 persons were injured today in fresh clashes between protesters and the police in different parts of the Kashmir valley where a bandh was observed in protest against the killing of a youth, Javed Ahmad Malla, in CRPF firing yesterday.

The bandh call was given by both factions of the Hurriyat Conference, the JKLF and other social ands religious organisations.

A curfew-like situation prevailed in several parts of the city. The areas included Khanyar, Nowhatta, Safakadal, MR Gunj, and Rainawari.

Meanwhile, the Government has asked the Kashmir Divisional Commissioner to enquire into the circumstances surrounding the death of Javid Ahmad Malla of Noorbagh, Srinagar. The enquiry has to be completed and submitted to the Government by June 28, an official spokesman said.
