Direct tax, a major source of revenue: Pranab Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said that direct taxes in India are increasingly becoming a major source of revenue for the Indian government. The collection registered a three-fold increase between the financial year 2005-6 and 2009-2010. Mukherjee also announced that the draft of 'Direct taxes code 2009' is being revised and will be put in public domain soon before it is introduced in the Parliament. (56k)
