FIFA world cup fever grips India
As the world gears up for the much-awaited FIFA world cup 2010, a soccer fan from Kerala has painted his three-wheeled auto rickshaw into the blue and white stripes of the Argentina flag and offers free ride to those who support the latin American team. Parakan Nazeer, supports Argentina because of its soccer stars who are among the favourites to lift this year's world cup that kicks off in South Africa next week. Nazeer, an auto rickshaw driver by profession, drives around in his colourful auto trying to garner support for his favourite team. He has spent around 5,000 rupees to convert the auto into the Argentinian flag colours.

India committed to implement civil nuclear cooperation accord: Krishna
While addressing the members of the US India Business Council at Washington on Wednesday, India's Foreign Minister SM Krishna said that the Indian government is committed to implementation of the historic 2008 civil nuclear cooperation accord, which could open the door to billions of dollars in business for US nuclear plant manufacturers. Incidentally, this reception hosted by the US India Business Council was ahead of today's official 'strategic dialogue' meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Policing country of 1.1 billion people is not easy: Chidambaram
Home Minister P Chidambaram, while addressing the 40th All India Police Science Congress at Raipur on Wednesday, opined that policing a country of 1.1 billion people is not easy and above all, policing in a troubled neighbourhood is indeed a difficult task. The Home Minister stated that the distribution of the police force among the police station is badly skewed and that there are not enough police stations in the country.
