Jammu, May 30
An alert pilot averted a Mangalore-type air tragedy at Jammu Airport this afternoon after his plane overshot the runway and took off again. The pilot managed to land the Indigo Airlines flight from Srinagar to Delhi via Jammu on the second attempt here, sources said.

As many as 123 passengers were on board the flight when the flight reached Jammu.

“At that time of landing, Air Traffic Controller (ATC) cancelled the landing clearance and the aircraft had to take off again. But within a few seconds, after getting clearance from the ATC again, the aircraft landed successfully,” said an official of Indigo Airlines.

The airport authorities said all passengers were safe as the second attempt of landing proved successful. Later, the flight left for Delhi.
