Leaders mourn tragedy
PM postpones anniversary dinner

New Delhi, May 22
Expressing deep shock over the tragic air accident in Mangalore, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today postponed all functions, including the dinner at his residence, to mark the first year of the UPA-II government.

The dinner this evening was being tipped to be a significant event considering that the Congress party’s present allies as well as some of the former allies had been invited for it.

Singh announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of those killed and Rs 50,000 each to those injured in the crash from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. — TNS
