SC verdict on Amarinder’s House expulsion tomorrow
New Delhi, April 24
The Supreme Court on Monday will pronounce its verdict on the Punjab Assembly’s power to expel former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for his alleged involvement in a multi-crore land scandal. Amarinder was expelled from the 13th state Assembly on September 10, 2008, for “breach of privilege” after a resolution was passed on the basis of the report of a special committee appointed by the Punjab Assembly on the alleged irregularities. The verdict will be pronounced by a five-member Constitution Bench, headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan.

Shashi Tharoor
The ‘honourable’ schoolboy
New Delhi, April 24
Shashi Tharoor, who survived many a Twitter gaffe, fell to the “sweat equity” of the woman in his life, Sunanda Pushkar. But Sunanda is not the only woman in the life of former Minister of State for External Affairs (no pun intended about External Affairs). Tharoor was married twice before. His first marriage was to Tilottama Mukherji, an academician based in Kolkata, whom he knew from his schooldays there. His second marriage was to Christa Giles, a Canadian civil servant.
