SC upholds life sentence to Manu Sharma
Supreme Court on Monday upheld the verdict by the Delhi court and awarded life imprisonment to Manu
Sharma, the prime accused in the murder of model Jessica Lall in 1999.The apex court upheld the high court's judgment terming it correct and proving trial court wrong. Manu Sharma, who is the son of a senior political leader of Congress party from Haryana, had challenged his conviction and the life sentence given by the High Court in December 2006.

IPL glorified gambling with black money: Vayalar Ravi
Vayalar Ravi, Indian Minister for Overseas Affairs, said on Monday that the government should look into the role of big money in the Indian Premiere League (IPL) cricket championship. Addressing reporters outside parliament in New Delhi, Ravi alleged that the IPL was glorified gambling run with black money. Meanwhile, Lalu Prasad, chief of regional Rashtriya Janata Dal party, said the government should take over after scrapping cricket bodies including the IPL, and BCCI.

PCPA protests govt's anti Maoist Operation Green Hunt
The Maoist-backed People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) protested the anti Maoist Operation Green
Hunt, by observing a black day in Salboni village of the West Midnapore district in West Bengal on
Sunday. A large number of activists shouting slogans, waving black flags and wearing black rosettes participated in the protest
march. The Maoists say that they are crusading against the prevailing political system and in cause of the poor and marginal farmers and landless
labourers.

Jessica's sister hails SC verdict to Manu Sharma
Sabrina Lall, who has been leading the campaign for justice for her model sister Jessica Lal’s
death, is finally relieved with the life sentence announced to the prime accused Manu Sharma by the Supreme Court
today. Same was the view of Bina Ramani, ace fashion designer and owner of restaurant where Jessica worked as a bartender.

PC gets hard on Maoists,slams NGOs for support to ultras
Calling Maoists anti poor and anti development, Home Minister P Chidambaram, in the Rajya
Sabha, on Monday, slammed Human Rights organizations for their tacit support to
ultras. The minister informed the House that the Maoists have targeted all instruments of
development. He reiterated that police action, especially the Operation Green Hunt would continue to wrest the territory under the Maoists control and help in restoration of civic administration.
