NDA to take up price rise issue in parliament today
India's main opposition coalition National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Wednesday in New Delhi proposed to take up the issue of price rise in the parliament when it resumes today for the budget session. Speaking on behalf of NDA, BJP senior leader S S Ahluwalia said that a whip is being issued to their coalition lawmakers for this motion on price rise to succeed.

Mamta criticizes anti-Maoist operation in W Bengal
Mamata Banerjee, India's Railway Minister and chief of Trinamool Congress (TMC) party on Wednesday claimed that there are no Maoists in West Bengal. Further she added that there are about 200 camps of Communist Party India (Marxist), which are unleashing violence in the state. Criticising the anti-Maoist operation, Operation Green Hunt, Mamata Banerjee contended that the operation is being carried out just to suppress or kill the rural folks in the area.

Opposition demands inquiry into Tharoor's Kochi IPL spat
Leaders of Opposition political parties today called for a probe into India's junior Foreign Minister Shashi Tharoor's role in the Kochi IPL team acquisition. Meanwhile, D Raja, a senior leader of Communist Party of India (CPI) lamented that the game of cricket has become a business now. Brinda Karat, politburo member of Communist Party of India (Marxist), said that Tharoor should step down his post till his name is cleared off the matter.
