Chandigarh/Patiala, April 14
Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) employees will go on strike from midnight to protest bifurcation of the electricity utility on Thursday after a formal approval by the state Cabinet.

Employees have promised to strike work only and not disrupt power, but the government is not taking chances and has sounded the Army. The new power schedule enforced by the PSEB has also come into force from today. Power cut timings for main cities are: Mohali: 11am-1pm, 3pm-5pm; Amritsar: 9am-11am, 1pm-3pm; and Jalandhar, Patiala and Bathinda: 10am-noon, 2.30pm-4.30 pm. — TNS
