Chidambaram shocked over mass killing of CRPF in Dantewada
India's home Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday expressed shock over the killing of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers by Maoists in Dantewada district of Chattisgarh and said that something must have gone drastically wrong in Chhattisgarh where a CRPF patrol during Operation Green Hunt came under naxal attack.

US Treasury Secretary Geithner meets Manmohan Singh 
US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who is in New Delhi to launch a new bilateral economic dialogue with India with a focus on macroeconomic stability, financial markets and infrastructure financing, met Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the capital on Tuesday. Geithner, who arrived in New Delhi along with Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Donald Kohn, is also expected to discuss ways to rebalance the global economy.

Global effort needed to thwart militant violence: Krishna 
Indian Foreign Minister S M Krishna in Being on Tuesday sought global co operation and a comprehensive legislation in the United Nations to face militancy as a universal threat.Krishna,accompanied by the Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao arrived in China on Monday on a four-day visit with an aim to consolidate bilateral ties.
