‘Told them temple would be built at the same spot’

Kar sevaks demolishing the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992. In what may spell fresh trouble for LK Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case, a key witness, IPS officer Anju Gupta, today told the special CBI court here that the BJP veteran had indeed given a provocative speech on December 6, 1992, by calling upon ‘kar sevaks’ (people offering free service for some religious cause) to build the temple at the same place where the mosque stood.

Cash-at-door: Further probe ordered

The special CBI judge today declined to accept the closure report filed by the CBI and ordered further investigation by the agency into the infamous “cash-at-judge’s-door”scam that came to light in August 2008.

SC dismisses plea for Husain’s return
New Delhi, March 26
The apex court on Friday refused to direct the government to take steps to ensure return of self-exiled painter MF Husain, who has been residing in a Gulf country, to India. A Bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan dismissed a PIL filed by Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party president Bhim Singh, seeking a direction to the government to withdraw all criminal cases (over 90) filed against Husain (95) for allegedly committing blasphemy by drawing objectionable sketches of Hindu gods.
