Opposition continues to attack Mayawati for extravagant garland 
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati continued to be at the receiving end of sharp criticism from opposition parties on Tuesday for her extravagant anniversary celebrations of Kanshi Ram, the founder of her Bahujan Samaj Party, including her garland that was made of currency notes, believed to be in rupees 1000 denomination.

Amandeep, Jai Bhagwan enter finals at Commonwealth boxing
Indian pugilists Amandeep and Jai Bhagwan made it to the finals of their respective weights in the on-going Commonwealth Boxing Championship, being staged at the Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday. South Asian Games gold medallist in the 49 kilograms category, Amandeep booked a berth in the final when he out-punched M F B M Redzuan of Malaysia in the light fly weight category.

Congress party seeks judicial probe into Bareilly riots
After meeting the concerned officials and the minister in the central Home Ministry at New Delhi on Tuesday, Digvijay Singh, senior leader of congress party demanded judicial probe into the communal riots which rocked the city of Bareilly. Cases of arson and violence were reported in Bareilly city and consequently the major part of Bareilly district was placed under curfew for the 13th day in a row as on March 13.

Mayawati presented with another cash garland
Supporters of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) presented party supremo and chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati,with another garland made of cash,which is estimated to be worth 1.8 million rupees. The garland, comprising notes of various denominations, was presented to Mayawati at a party meeting by her party leaders in Lucknow on Wednesday.
