Maya gets another garland
Tribune News Service & Agencies

Lucknow, March 17
Yet another garland of crisp currency notes was presented to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati here on Wednesday even as a row triggered by a similar show of extravagance two days ago refused to fade away.

Stated to have been made with neatly folded Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes, the Rs 18 lakh garland was gifted to the Bahujan Samaj Party president at a meeting of party MPs and MLAs at the party state headquarters here.

Now, Bihar MP garlanded

Patna: At the Patna airport, supporters greeted Bihar MP and expelled JD(U) member Ejaz Ali with a garland of currency notes on Wednesday morning for opposing the Women's Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha. But even before it could be placed around the MP’s neck, people tore away at the garland and fled with the currency! “Had they been my supporters, they would have behaved differently and decently,” claimed Ali.

BSP spokesman suspended

Bangalore: The BSP suspended Karnataka unit spokesperson YN Sharma in Bangalore on Wednesday for claiming that the garland presented to Mayawati on Monday was floral and not made of currency notes. “There is no democracy in the BSP; Mayawati is a dictator,” fumed Sharma.
