Roemer seeks early passage of nuclear liability bill by India 
New Delhi, March 16 (ANI): US Ambassador to India Timothy J Roemer on Monday opined that the India-US nuclear deal is an important issue and also hoped the Indian parliament would endorse this pact at the earliest. Further he lauded Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's commitment towards the deal and noted that both India and the USA share the same vision. For the Indian Government, the Nuclear Liability Bill is vital for the implementation of the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.

Advanced Air Defence interceptor missile test fails
Orissa, March 16 (ANI): India on Monday received a major jolt in its missile development programme when the Advanced Air Defence (AAD) interceptor missile failed in its test firing during a planned launch from the Integrated Test Range in Balasore district of Orissa. Analysts attributed the failure to some coordination problem. Defence sources admitted that the interceptor missile planned trial could not take place properly. Preliminary analysis suggested that the target missile might have deviated from its stipulated trajectory, leading to lack of proper coordination.

Devotee's throng to temples on first day of Navratri 
New Delhi, March 16 (ANI): Hindus thronged temples in New Delhi on Tuesday to offer prayers on the first day of the nine-day-long festival of 'Navratri'. Hundreds of devotees thronged the famous Jhandewalan temple in the capital to seek blessings of the Hindu goddess Durga. Early morning rituals were performed to mark the festival, symbolising the triumph of good over evil. As per the Hindu calendar, the beginning of Navratri also marks the Hindu New Year and celebrations assume even greater significance.

BJP demands talks over foreign university campuses in India 
New Delhi,March 16 (ANI):Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday demanded discussion on the cabinet's proposal to allow foreign universities to set up campuses in the country.The BJP said the proposed Foreign Educational Institutions (regulation of entry and operation) Bill will have an impact on the country's education system and hence should be discussed thoroughly.Cabinet on Monday approved a proposal to allow foreign universities to set up campuses,with an aim to reduce the flow of Indian students abroad.

ISRO shootout not a terror act: Chidambaram
Karnataka/New Delhi, March 16 (ANI):Home Minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday said that the shoot out outside the Indian Space Research Organisation,ISRO,near Bangalore did not look like a terrorist attack.He also added that the security agencies were probing the attack.

Firing at Lal Chowk,CRPF jawan killed,three injured 
Srinagar,March 16 (ANI):Armed militants striked in Kashmir yet again on Tuesday when they opened fire in Srinagar's busy Lal Chowk area, killing one soldier of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and injuring three others,including one CRPF soldier.The incident occurred around 11:30 am when suspected militants attacked CRPF's patrolling party. The militants reportedly later escaped into the congested streets of the Koker Bazaar locality.Security personnel cordoned off the entire area with a three tier security cover and search operations have been launched to nab the attackers.
