India will raise with Pakistan the issue of investigations into the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks when foreign secretaries of the two countries meet in the capital a week later.

Forecasting that the economy would grow by 7.5 per cent this fiscal, the Prime Minister’s economic advisory panel today pitched for raising duties in the Budget 2010-11 as part of rollback of stimulus measures.

In a sudden development, Shyam Saran, Prime Minister’s special envoy for Indo-US nuclear issues and climate change, has resigned. A brief statement from the PMO this evening said Saran has been permitted to demit office with effect from Friday, March 14.

Party plans a separate action panel for statehood goal
Hyderabad, February 19
The Telangana movement suffered a setback with the ruling Congress on Fridaypulling out of an all-party Joint  Action Committee (JAC) and deciding to tread a separate path to achieve the statehood goal. The JAC, comprising Telangana representatives of Congress, TDP, Telangana Rashtra Samithi, BJP and several civil society organizationsfighting for statehood cause, has been showing signs of falling apart since the announcement of the Justice Srikrishna committee by the Centre to examine the statehood issue.

After 67-yr yatra, Advani intends to quit

The three-day BJP jamboree concluded here today with veteran BJP leader LK Advani finally indicating his intent to call it a day, a demand from the RSS and sections of his party that had been gathering momentum since the May 2009 General Election. Advani also implicitly confirmed for the first time that he was under pressure to quit.

Surrender policy for Sikh youth

The government could mull a surrender policy for misguided Sikh youth, who ex-filtrated into Pakistan at the height of militancy in Punjab or took political protection in other countries. A day after ruling out the application to Sikhs of the surrender policy being drafted for the Kashmiri youths in PoK, home minister P Chidambaram today went an extra mile along the road to say the government would be willing to take back misguided Sikh youth who renounce the demand for Khalistan to come back.

HC sets aside allotment of  plots to ex-MPs, MLAs
Chandigarh, February 19
Nearly five years after Haryana Urban Development Authority launched a group-housing scheme in seven cities, Punjab and Haryana High Court has set aside “allotment of plots to reserved categories of MPs and MLAs”.
