Mumbai, February 9
The Shiv Sena intensified its agitation against Shah Rukh Khan today with its activists holding protests outside several theatres and damaging one where the actor’s latest, ‘My Name is Khan’ is scheduled to be released on Friday.

Party workers attacked Mehul Cinema at the Shiv Sena’s stronghold of Mulund and broke windows and damaged the booking counter. Some employees were also roughed up, the police said. More than 10 Shiv Sena activists were immediately taken into custody. Slogan shouting Sena activists said they would burn down the theatre if the film was screened.

Protests were also held at the Huma Cinema, Kanjurmarg, Shreyas Cinema and R-City multiplex at Ghatkopar. However, timely police action ensured that property was not damaged. In all more than 50 Shiv Sena workers have been taken into custody, the police said.

Earlier in the day, producer of the film Karan Johar called on Mumbai Police Commissioner for the second time to discuss security arrangements for the movie. Later, Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) told reporters that the government would deal firmly with anyone disrupting the film’s screening.
