Petrol, diesel prices up in Punjab
Chandigarh, February 5
Punjab has imposed a surcharge of 10 per cent on the exiting tax on petrol and diesel in the state taking the price per litre of petrol up from Rs 1.06 to Rs 1.10 in different districts and diesel by 0.26 paise. The increase will be effective from midnight today.

CBI seeks maximum sentence for Rathore
Chandigarh, February 5
The counter appeal filed by the CBI for the enhancement of former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore’s sentence in the Ruchika Girhotra case has been committed to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Raj Shekhar Attri. It will be taken up for hearing on February 8. It will be simultaneously heard with the appeal filed by Rathore against his conviction.
