The controversy over Veena, the alleged stepmother of Ruchika, once again surfaced in the Panchkula court today when Abha Rathore, counsel and wife of former DGP SPS Rathore, claimed that Subhash Girhotra had got married to Veena in 1991.

Veena’s name had figured recently when Girhtora had alleged that she was shown as his wife and her signatures were put on the inquest proceedings of Ruchika even though she was the governess at his residence in Sector 6 at the time when Ruchika had died. The role of Veena is being suspected as a mole of Rathore.

“Ismein kisi ka kasoor nahin hai,” (No one is responsible for this), Veena, the “wife” of Girhotra, had deposed in the inquest proceedings. Neighbours of the Girhtoras allege that Veena had disappeared after depriving the family of their valuables and the money they had got from the sale of their house.

Abha, today, while pleading for the anticipatory bail of her husband, claimed that Girhotra in his statement before a CBI court on October 8, 1995, had said that Ruchika and Veena did not have cordial relations.

Denying this, Pankaj Bhardwaj, the counsel of the Girhotras, said Abha was not coming out with the complete statement and they would prove that everything she was saying regarding this was a bundle of lies as and when they got a chance to argue in the court.
