Hyderabad, December 12
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao today asserted that there would be no compromise on separate Telangana state. He expressed confidence that the UPA government would honour its commitment.

No more new states, says Pranab
Kolkata, December 12
Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today ruled out the possibility of formation of any more new state in the country. “The demand for Telangana is 60 years old. This does not mean everywhere new states are to be created,” Mukherjee said, talking to mediapersons after inaugurating a new hospital in North 24 Parganas today. The demand for Telangana could not be bracketed with demands for Gorkhaland, Kamtapur or other new states, he said.

As negotiations on climate change gathered momentum here, India said it will play a constructive role even as it slammed efforts of the developed world to make domestic emission cut commitments of developing nations legally binding and verifiable.

RTI Act doesn’t cover elected reps
New Delhi, December 12
Elected representatives including MPs, MLAs and local bodies members are not covered under the Right to Information Act in ‘individual’ capacity, the Central Information Commission has ruled. It clarified that information regarding their activities can be accessed from bodies of which they are a part, like parliament, state legislative assembly or local bodies.

Woods puts marriage before golf
Los Angeles, December 12
In a stunning decision, golf superstar Tiger Woods announced he was putting his game on the backburner to try to save his marriage as he admitted for the first time being unfaithful. Woods yesterday said he was taking an “indefinite break” from the PGA Tour and apologised, pleading for forgiveness in a statement posted on his website. “I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children,” he said.
