Life term for Manjunath’s killer instead of death
HC upholds life sentence of five others, acquits two

Lucknow, December 11
Whistleblower Manjunath was shot dead in 2005.The death sentence of the main convict in the murder of young Indian Oil executive Manjunath four years back was today commuted to life by the Allahabad High Court, which felt the offence was not rarest of rare case. Whistleblower Manjunath was shot dead in 2005.

Sree tests positive for swine flu
Chandigarh, December 11
Team India’s fast bowler S Sreesanth, who had already been ruled out of tomorrow’s match, has tested positive for swine flu. The Kerala player had been admitted to Fortis hospital, Mohali, with cough, sore throat and fever. The speedster had undergone a series of tests, and the results came out late at night.

Duleep Singh’s slippers sell for £18,000
London, December 11
Punjab’s last Sikh ruler, Maharaja Duleep Singh’s slippers sold for £18,000 but his ceremonial jacket failed to find a buyer at an auction conducted by Lyon and Turnbull in Edinburgh. Experts were hopeful the jacket would sell, as it reached over £52,000 before bidding stopped.
