The Haryana Congress Legislature Party met here this evening for over an hour. As expected, it authorised AICC president Sonia Gandhi to nominate its leader.

PM to meet Chinese premier today
The outcome of Saturday’s meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao on the fringes of the ASEAN Summit here is anybody’s guess but Indian diplomats are quite hopeful that it would at least draw a curtain on the recent war of words between the two countries over contentious issues that had threatened to derail the normalisation process.

Pawar hints at higher bonus
Chandigarh, October 23
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has assured the Punjab government that the Centre will considerately view its demand for a higher bonus for the kharif crop. In the city to review the procurement process, Pawar said “owing to an exceptionally bad season for the farmers on account of a failed monsoon and higher input costs, the Centre is considering enhancing the procurement price.”
