60 militants killed in Waziristan offensive
Pakistan jets, artillery target Taliban strongholds

Islamabad, October 18
Pakistani jets and artillery pounded Taliban bases for the second day today killing 60 militants in the lawless Waziristan region as ground forces continued their push into the strongholds of the Taliban and captured two key towns from them despite stiff resistance.

India to send fresh evidence to Pak
Mumbai, October 18
Statements of key witnesses in the 26/11 case in an anti-terror court here will be forwarded by India to Pakistan to be used as evidence in the trial there, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said here today.

Won’t tinker with news channels’ content: Govt
Autonomous body to look into broadcasting sector
New Delhi, October 18
The government has no intention to regulate the content of television news channels but will create an independent autonomous body to look into all aspects of the broadcasting sector, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni said.

The Indian government is ready to provide another Rs 500 crore to the Sri Lankan government for rehabilitation of Tamil refugees who were displaced due to the civil war in the island nation, Home Minister P Chidambaram today said.
