Day 2: Jet impasse on, 153 flights cancelled

New Delhi/Mumbai, September 9
As many as 153 flights of Jet Airways, including 19 to international destinations, were cancelled on second day of the strike by pilots today as 432 of them, of the total 1,056 on rolls, stayed off duty despite the management toughening its stance on the strikers.

Major test for parties after LS poll
New Delhi/Patna, September 9
Bypolls to 20 assembly seats spread over seven states, including seven each in Bihar and Gujarat, will be held tomorrow in the second major test for political parties after the recent Lok Sabha polls. Honours were even for the parties in the first round of bypolls for 17 seats held last month after the General Election.

Gujarat HC stays probe report
Ahmedabad, September 9
The Gujarat High Court today stayed Metropolitan Magistrate S P Tamang's report, which had said the police encounter killing Ishrat Jahan and three others was fake, and asked authorities of the High Court to look into the action of the Magistrate and take necessary action.
