Class X students of CBSE schools will be the last batch to compulsorily take the board examination for entering class XI this year, with HRD ministry today formally announcing the end of class X boards in all CBSE senior secondary schools from the next, 2010-2011 academic session.

Even as External Affairs Minister S M Krishna sought to play down fresh reports of Chinese incursions, the armed forces have intensified patrolling along the line of actual control in Eastern Ladakh and the entire area is expected to be brought under radar surveillance.

Curfew was extended in Sangli and Miraj towns of western Maharashtra on Monday and several senior leaders of the Shiv Sena and the BJP were taken into preventive custody following communal tension that erupted over a poster during Ganesh Utsav festivities last week.

27 killed in J&K bus accident

At least 27 passengers were killed and 22 injured when the bus in which they were travelling skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Assar on the Batote-Kishtwar National Highway around 1.10 pm today.
