Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today slammed Pakistan for deliberately stifling probe into the Mumbai attacks and made it clear that action against the perpetrators of the strikes was a condition for resumption of dialogue.

In what may come as a big surprise, Pakistan’s former National Security Adviser (NSA) Mahmud Ali Durrani today rejected New Delhi’s contention that banned Jamat-ud-Dawa (JUD) Hafiz Saeed had plotted the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

As part of their attempt to fan anti-India sentiments in the Himalayan nation, they attacked two Indian priests at the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu yesterday.

Pay hike of Badal, ministers on hold

The Finance Department has put up the proposal to increase the salary and allowances of the Chief Minister as well as cabinet ministers on the back burner till next year. The authorities concerned had forwarded the proposal to the Finance Department to increase the salary of the Chief Minister by 233 per cent and of the cabinet ministers by 150 per cent.

The probe into the air disaster that killed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and four others commenced today with the recovery of black box of the ill-fated helicopter, which crashed in the Nallamala forest area of Kurnool district on September 2.
