With Islamabad turning a blind eye to New Delhi’s concerns over cross-border terrorism, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today warned the chief ministers of the possibility of Pakistan-based militant groups carrying out fresh terrorist attacks in India.

The Vidhan Sabha today passed the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Bill after much debate and rejected the amendment moved by the Congress along with the demand to refer the Bill to a select committee of the House.

9 Pak intruders nabbed on Kutch coast
Ahmedabad, August 17
On a day when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh spoke of terror groups in Pakistan plotting fresh attacks in India, the Border Security Force said it foiled an infiltration bid today by arresting nine Pakistani nationals who had alighted from a boat in the coastal Sir Creek area in Kutch district.

Monitor drought, price rise, Pawar tells CMs
New Delhi, August 17
Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today told chief ministers to personally monitor the steps initiated by the Centre and states to counter drought and price rise. Speaking at the chief ministers’ conference, which was chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pawar said the need of the hour was to prepare an early rabi plan and improve irrigation facilities to make up for the damage done during the kharif season due to insufficient rainfall.
