After innumerable rounds of intense discussions over the past few days, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s new government was finally unveiled today. Besides the 19 ministers who were inducted last Friday, the Prime Minister and Congress president Sonia Gandhi finalised an additional list of 14 ministers, seven ministers of state with independent charge and 38 ministers of state, who will be sworn in tomorrow morning at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Ashoka Hall.

Some states were clear gainers in the “berth adjustment” made by the Congress-led UPA combine, while leaders of others were left sulking and even brooding at their ill-luck after having performed well in the polls.

5th pay panel report partially notified
Chandigarh, May 27
The Punjab government today notified the conversion table of the 5th Pay Commission hiking the basic salaries of state government employees. To be implemented with retrospective effect from January 1, 2006, the government has specified that the enhanced basic salaries will be available to the employees from the July salary payable in August 2009.
